Sierra X31 Package

For the GMC Sierra, there is a new badge to be seen. Until 2018, the GMC Sierra, like the Chevrolet Silverado, would sport the Z71 badging to indicate the off-road package. When the redesign came in 2019, the Sierra's new looks called for some new verbiage and badging. Unlike the Z71 badge seen on the front grille and beside the sideview mirrors in a Silverado, the X31 package is similar to the F-150's FX4 badge in that it sits at the back quarter of the pickup bed. Instead of lamenting over packages lost, let’s take a look at what we gained.

2022 GMC Terrain

2021 may have just started, but that doesn’t mean we can’t get excited about the new model years. The GMC Terrain is the smallest SUV in GMC’s lineup, but it is not a compact SUV by any means. This 5-passenger SUV boasts seating for 5 with the 2021 model offering 838L of cargo volume behind the second-row seats. While 2022 will mark the 12th model year of the Terrain, it is still in its second generation. So, what’s new in this mid-cycle refresh?

First-Ever AT4

The AT4 trim has rolled out to the rest of the GMC lineup with the Yukon and Canyon being the latest additions. Until 2022, the one hold out was the Terrain. The Terrain AT4 will add some rugged good looks and a front steel skid plate. In this case, rugged good looks mean some blacked-out side view mirrors and wheels.

A More Striking Approach

Being a refresh and not a redesign many things will maintain a similar look to what the Terrain currently looks like, however, some updates will give it a striking new look. A more distinct C-shape headlight, redesigned taillight and grilles will have it turning heads when it is coming and going.

Elevation

The success of the Elevation package on the current Terrain means it will be returning for 2022. Black accents are the hallmark of this trim to give you some subtle good looks. Currently, the Elevation trim is available on both the SLE and SLT trim.

Technology for days

One of the bigger changes may actually be best experienced from inside the vehicle. Wireless CarPlay and Android Auto will become standard while also making room for Amazon Alexa. While Denali will get a new driver information display, a new head-up display will be standard on Denali and available on the SLT and AT4 trims.

Safety features are also being added as standard for 2022, and these will include automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, forward collision alert, and front pedestrian detection among other features from the Pro Safety package.

While the new model year will bring four new colours with it, we will just have to wait and see what those are. Until then, explore our lineup of 2021 models, here.
